Executive Vice President
Western Pallet Association
The WPA continues to evolve and the momentum is visible across every corner of the association.
The pallet industry is entering a period where operations that utilize technology, workforce development, and access to reliable industry knowledge are no longer optional. They are requirements for competitiveness. The companies that recognize this shift early are positioning themselves ahead of the curve. The companies that wait will spend their time reacting to changes already underway.
That reality is shaping the direction of the WPA.
Over the past several months, our board, committees, and strategic partners have been focused on building real value for members through stronger educational resources, member engagement, and long-term strategic initiatives tied directly to the future of the pallet industry.
The May issue of the WPA Magazine reflects that direction clearly.
Inside, you’ll find articles on AI-enabled process improvement, operational visibility, connected systems, cybersecurity risks, and leadership inside increasingly automated environments. This isn’t theory anymore. It directly impacts profitability, the workforce, customer trust, insurance exposure, and decision-making.
At the same time, modernizing operations without strong leadership creates its own challenges. Kevan Grinwis’ latest column serves as an important reminder that people remain the foundation of every successful operation, regardless of how advanced the tools become. Technology strengthens leadership, it does not replace it.
Behind the scenes, the WPA Board and committees continue advancing projects and ideas connected to Pallet University, workforce development, expanded educational programming, member engagement, and the modernization of WPA operations and communications.
Our mission is clear: help member companies operate smarter, develop stronger teams, reduce friction, and position themselves for the next stage of the industry.
That is where the real value of a committed association lives.
