downward, really messed up (the market),” she said.

Kosman’s presentation spanned a range of topics, including the impact of log exports on lumber markets, as well as the influence of European softwood imports.

While the sawmill situation in BC looks disheartening in the face of current low prices, shrinking timber supply, and closures, she identified cross-laminated timber as one area of optimism for the lumber sector, given its superior environmental performance to alterna-tives such as concrete.
