Technology Transforming the Industry

July 2024

Dear WPA members and friends,

Glenn

Glenn Meeks

Executive Vice President

Western Pallet Association

As the pallet industry evolves, understanding supply chain technology is crucial. Innovations in logistics and warehouse management—like robotics, AI, tracking technologies, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and advanced warehouse management systems (WMS)—are changing the industry at an unprecedented speed.

And even though these technologies enhance efficiency and generate cost savings, there will always be a need for pallets to move the load from one place to another. Our goal as an industry is to have our products operate seamlessly within that advanced environment and to innovate just as well. Data, metrics, and information are the first steps of that innovation path.

In this issue of WPA Magazine we survey the technological landscape with an overview of new and exciting technologies in the supply chain space. We are also continuing our series on heat illness with prevention and readiness tips from Brint Walker. And our new columnist, Kat Vasquez, continues to Bridge The Gap with a study on personal transformation. Plus! We have the new Market Pulse and a new market report from Eric Ander.

Staying informed and adaptable is vital to the pallet industry's success. We hope this issue of WPA Magazine provides valuable insights and inspires you to learn more about these new technologies.

Building Better Together.
