Foundations and Future

JANUARY 2024

As the new Executive Vice President of the Western Pallet Association, I had the distinct honor of overseeing our 2024 Annual Meeting held at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, California.

This year was particularly eventful as we celebrated 50 years of association history with special guests and events. The gathering was not just a meeting; it was a celebration of the legacy, achievements, and vision we have built together as an association over the last five decades.

With over 370 attendees, the enthusiasm and spirit of camaraderie were unmistakable. Our members, ranging from industry veterans to brand new members, came together to share insights, build new relationships, and reminisce about the journey that has shaped our association.

I’d like to thank the 21 event sponsors and more than 30 exhibitors that added to the vibrancy of the event, showcasing the latest innovations and services that continue to drive our industry forward.

A highlight of this year’s annual meeting was our special 50th anniversary celebration. It was a moment of profound pride as we honored the "pioneer members" whose vision, dedication, and hard work have been instrumental in building the WPA into the robust association it is today. Their legacy is a testament to the power of community and the enduring value of our collective efforts.

It was also a time to honor and thank Dave Sweitzer and Kristine Durr for their commitment to the membership and the work they have done through the years that has helped transform this association into the community it is today.

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. This affirmation is a testament to the spirit of the WPA community and the strong bonds that unite us.

In my first year as Executive Vice President, I am deeply grateful for the trust and warmth extended to me by our members. It has been an incredible experience, and I am filled with anticipation for what we will achieve together in the new year for the WPA.

As we look to the future, the success of this year’s annual meeting serves as both an inspiration and a foundation upon which to build. Together, we will continue to innovate, collaborate, and lead the wood pallet industry towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
