A critical element of state advocacy is helping policymakers to understand the pallet industry, including its importance to state economies and to sustainability initiatives.

While Wallis had a few questions, he seemed intent on learning as much as he could. “He was just absorbing everything,” Dietrich said, "just like a sponge. He asked about jobs, our people, and how we went about getting people.” The tour was limited to one hour due to the assembly member’s tight schedule. 

Priority Pallet provided an information binder that along with company history, included important industry messaging

about the sustainability and economic benefits of wood pallets. These topics were discussed during the tour. 

“They're elected officials,” Dietrich said. “They're just people like you and I trying to do a good job for the state, for the country. They're passionate about it, and just like we are about our industry. It just really, really was a lot of fun and I felt like I was talking to a friend at the end of it.”
