Keep on keeping on
Editor,
Greetings from cold Western Canada! I came across this fine magazine at my local maga-
zine stand. In the past, my focus has been hunting the high peaks, the vertical cliff faces and
frozen waterfalls that we are blessed with an abundance of up here.
With the growing of the family, the pursuit of mountain time and acceptable risk has
changed. I still manage a few days out on the cold northern winter ice and some sunny days
on the cliffs but I found that the focus towards the mountains and exploring them with a
different goal and different outcome is interesting and rewarding. The climb was a tangible
yet intangible feeling to share. I left with a full pack, came home with the same pack, but
an elevated sense of being that is tough to share and doesn’t taste nearly as good as a fresh
pheasant. The hunt has filled the fall with many footsteps in the mountains and vast prai-
ries.
Thank you for bringing a piece of that feeling home. Your journal will sustain and inform
me until the fall comes again and who knows maybe the journal will include the fine sam-
plings of Western Canada’s fine hunting at some point too. All the best and good work. Keep
on keeping on!
