F or more than 30 years , Foster ’ s Main Street Tavern has been a staple in downtown Beckley .
Located at 121 Main Street , the building was a hardware store from 1917 to the 1980s and was owned by J . G . “ Red ” Foster . It was converted into a bar and restaurant in 1989 , though much of the store interior was left intact , including the brick walls , tin ceiling and the mezzanine .
Operated by Buzz Burke , Foster ’ s Main Street Tavern offers a cozy and laid-back atmosphere that ’ s inviting to locals and tourists .
These traits have allowed Foster ’ s to be one of the longest-lasting businesses in downtown Beckley .
Live music is a regular occurrence at Foster ’ s , along with the ever-popular trivia nights , paint parties and charity events .
