April 5 : West Virginia Short Film Festival at the Pipestem Resort at 7 p . m . The festival will feature the works of Michael Meredith . Five short films ( 12-20 minutes in length ) will be presented at the McKeever Lodge in the Faulconer Room . Michael Meredith will be available for a meet and greet session and to answer questions . April 13 : Kid ’ s Trout Derby @ Alpine Ministries in Mt . Hope . Catch fish , win prizes , and make memories on a spring Saturday at Alpine . Kids 17 and under get an exclusive chance to hook stocked trout and take home the fillets . The third annual Kids ’ Trout Derby features three 90-minute sessions . Children must be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own tackle . Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be provided . Someone will be available to fillet fish for no charge .
