“ People think farmers got it made . Our operating expenses are as much as we make each year . We pay our bills . People think you have it so easy and there is not anything to do , but there is a lot to do .
“ Perfectly good trees fall on the fence , and you ’ ve got to fix the fence . We check the cows twice a day , especially if they are about to give birth . It ’ s feeding them and caring for them . And mowing the hay is a two-week job , 10 to 12 hours a day on the tractor .
“ But it ’ s also rewarding . I don ’ t think people realize how rewarding it is to do what we do . We get up and it ’ s a new day and we never know ; you never know what ’ s going to happen on the farm .”
Carl likes to do everything himself “ By the time I tell someone how to do something , I could have had it done ,” he says . The future holds a lot more cattle raising , more campers and more teaching little ones .

“ I ’ ve done a lot of marketing ,” April says . “ The ones that are receptive are very happy and pleased . Their customers are happy .
They recognize the quality of the product that they are getting is a big difference .”
With that , Carl and April will keep plugging along , grateful for each step along the way . �
