menus at farm-to-table restaurants like Thunderbird Taco , Thai Kitchen , Amy ’ s Market , The Hub and American Route 60 Grill in Greenbrier County .
April acknowledges good support from the community “ People rave about how great our beef is . They say it ’ s the best they ’ ve ever eaten and that our hamburger is nice and lean .”
The farming couple with a laid-back style and an open sense of gratitude makes the farm accessible to others who want to experience farm life .
“ We encourage people to come visit us , especially families . You can purchase the beef right here at the farm .”
Some of their favorite guests are those from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine .
“ They come up with their families and kids and I have a preschool group of 10 that would come up and play and we ’ d have fun . People seem to appreciate that we want to give back to the community ,” added April .
Homemade dog treats are another specialty of the farm .
“ I donate half of the money that I make back to the Greenbrier County Humane Society . We donate as much hamburger as we sell to various organizations that have fundraisers . We ’ re just so thankful .”
Caring Acres Farm is also a member of Harvest Hosts and Hipcamp , where guests can reserve space for their RV or pitch a tent and enjoy a little farm life .
This year the couple has already hosted over 60 campers . Last year they had 250 come through . The visitors have hailed from as far away as Japan and Australia and as local as Virginia Beach .
“ We don ’ t want to have an RV park ,” April says . “ We don ’ t want to destroy the naturalness of the land that we have . Everyone that comes really enjoys it because they have time to enjoy it .”
