s the sage balladeer Jimmy Buffett once said , it ’ s the time of year when one might feel compelled to shoot six holes in one ’ s freezer . Wind . Cold . Rain . Cold and wind . Rain and cold . Mix and repeat . For variety , there ’ s ice , which belongs in my boat drink , not my driveway . In general , I prefer cooler weather to the roasting pan of summer and am more likely to venture out when it ’ s 50 degrees than when it ’ s 85 . But even so , January tries me .
