An itch to stitch
Karen Green , a retired teacher , has been using needles and thread to fabricate unique , award-winning creations for several decades . She can do crocheting , cro-hook , sewing , quilting , machine embroidery and cross-stitch . The skill comes honestly . She spent nearly four decades in Wyoming County classrooms and was named Teacher of the Year in 2009 . For 36 years she taught the domestic sciences to high school students . Pages 32-35 .

Daniel Burgess made his first table in 2012 when a 130-yearold oak tree measuring nearly 5 feet across fell in his mother ’ s yard during the derecho a few years back . His daughter was getting married the next summer so he decided to use the tree to build her a dining room table as a wedding gift . Page 36
Jams and jellies for the holidays
Natasha Zoe has been canning for much of her life – starting at the age of 8 . She taught canning to fellow Marines during her 10 ½ years of service and then started Jarhead Farm after she retired from the military in 2020 . She said she started by making one batch of jam and it sold out in two days . Page 38

Brandon Daniels started making maple syrup as a teenager in his backyard with 10 taps . Now he attends to 2,600 taps on 10 different properties , and about 20-30 miles of tubing coming into five different locations . Page 41
