WV Health Right is an essential part of the Charleston community, providing under or uninsured residents with quality health care. However, over time, community needs outgrew the available space at WV Health Right’ s East End Clinic, making it difficult to continue its mission. With the help of ZMM, the East End Clinic underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, expanding the facility to 31,200 SF to make its comprehensive care better than ever.
Previously, all patient areas were together in one section of the building, but the renovation has allowed medical, dental, vision and mental health services to all have their own designated spaces. ZMM led WV Health Right through every step of the renovation process, from purchasing additional properties to accommodate the extra space to helping it acquire municipal planning commission approval.
In addition to these new spaces, existing lab and phlebotomy spaces tripled in size, the pharmacy doubled in size and 5,000 SF of shell space was created. This includes additional lobby space and relocation of administrative offices, allowing for better efficiency and flow throughout the facility. WV Health Right also expanded the teaching kitchens it uses for nutritional programming, enhancing its offerings and introducing a new program led by James Beard award-winning chef, Paul Smith.
“ ZMM represents the best of the best in their industry. They always deliver what they promise and then some. They listened to me and captured the design and concept that we were going for completely. I never dreamed doing a 12-million-dollar expansion project could be managed so easily but they made it look effortless.”
