A DECADE OF HEALTHY HARRISON
The success of a transformative initiative is often the result of enduring leadership, and Healthy Harrison stands as a testament to that truth. West Virginia University( WVU), under the leadership of its newly appointed president, Dr. Michael Benson, continues to champion the vision of a healthier, stronger West Virginia. This commitment builds upon the foundation laid nearly a decade ago by Dr. Clay Marsh, chancellor and executive dean of WVU Health Sciences, and Dr. Bill Ramsey, associate vice president, who in 2016 conceived the idea of improving health outcomes across the state.
Their vision was met with strong, long-term support from WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, now led by President and CEO Dr. David Hess. Equally vital has been the unwavering commitment of the local community, its own leaders stepping forward to sustain and expand this mission. Through the leadership of three Healthy Harrison board presidents— Bob Steptoe, Brock Malcolm and Amy Haberbosch Wilson— the organization has continued to grow and thrive.
Since its inception, Executive Director John Paul Nardelli has provided steady leadership, ensuring the collective vision translates into measurable action. Together, this coalition of dedicated leaders has implemented impactful projects that strengthen health, well-being and recovery across the community, proving that sustained leadership over time can indeed change lives.
