Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health Awards Nearly $ 265,000 in Grants This Quarter
The Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health recently announced its continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of West Virginians through seven new grants totaling nearly $ 265,000 in the final quarter of 2024 .
These grants build on the fund ’ s success in supporting nonprofit organizations throughout the Mountain State , bringing the total 2024 commitment to West Virginia communities to nearly $ 1.5 million and more than $ 6 million since the fund launched in 2021 .
The charitable fund ’ s support this year tackles key social determinants of health while furthering advancements in oral health , addressing substance use disorder and improving both community and family health outcomes .
This latest round of funding supports crucial initiatives across the state , including University Physicians and Surgeons , Inc .; West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities ; Laurance Jones , III Childhood Language Center , Inc .; Williamson Health and Wellness Center ; Rea of Hope Inc .; West Virginia 211 , Inc .; and Tug River Health Association , Inc .

Rivers Health Secures $ 7 Million in Rural Hospital Grant Funding

Rivers Health , a member of the Marshall Health Network , has been awarded $ 7 million in Rural Hospital Grant funding , Governor Jim Justice recently announced .
This allocation is part of the state ’ s $ 40 million Rural Hospital Grant program , which was launched in October after the West Virginia Legislature appropriated funds during a special session . The program is designed to improve health care infrastructure and services at rural hospitals throughout West Virginia .
Rivers Health will utilize the $ 7 million grant to renovate and expand its emergency department , a project that was announced at a ceremonial groundbreaking in late October .
