Celebrate Mountaineer Country

West Virginia Executive traveled to Morgantown to celebrate Mountaineer Country on December 13 , 2023 . Community leaders and friends gathered to network and continue the ongoing growth in the region .
“ I enjoyed great conversations with new friends . The new event center at the West Virginia Botanic Gardens made a stunning venue for the reception ,” shares Greg Corio , assistant vice president for outdoor youth advocacy and initiatives at the Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative .
Collaboration and moving the Mountain State forward were common conversation topics at the reception .
“ Events like the Celebrate Mountaineer Country reception bring like-minded individuals together who are aligned in the mission of ensuring economic success , longevity and professional growth in West Virginia ,” says Jamie Lima , state director for Dolly Parton ’ s Imagination Library of West Virginia . “ Collaboration is so powerful , and maintaining a strong network helps advance our initiatives here at home .”
Fairmont State University President Michael Davis echoes Lima ’ s sentiment about the growth of the state .
“ The reception was a wonderful opportunity to connect with individuals who truly love West Virginia and are committed to seeing what we can do in true partnership together ,” Davis says . “ I am grateful to the West Virginia Executive staff for creating an engaging event that gave us time to make connections that are vital to ensuring this great state ’ s future .” •
