The firm ’ s focus on flexibility has led to DHG Anywhere , a new hybrid workforce that creates the flexibility team members desire within reasonable boundaries , coined Freedom Within a Framework , according to Ballard . Every person in the firm is classified as either hybrid — partially in office , partially remote — or virtual employees , meaning there are no specific hour or day work requirements , and employees can create schedules that work for them and their teams .
Throughout the pandemic , the firm conducted monthly check-ins with staff to see what was working and what was not . The feedback received helped guide strategies and understanding on how the team felt . DHG took this same approach for re-entry into the office , and the majority of the team said they would prefer a hybrid workforce going forward .
“ We learned from our pandemic performance that our people have been providing excellent client service and have remained productive in our new hybrid workplace ,” Ballard says . “ To emerge stronger than ever , we ’ ve kept our clients at the center of our decisions to allow teams to meet their clients where they would like to be met . Just as we ’ ve surveyed our people , we ’ ve surveyed our clients to ask them how they would like to be served .”
Looking forward , DHG is currently working on new team connection points to keep culture strong in the new workplace , including assigned teams of employees who naturally align in the workplace , coined Align Groups . These groups are currently being piloted before being rolled out firmwide later this year .
“ We don ’ t see flexibility as one-sizefits-all and often say that at DHG , flexibility is a two-way street ,” Ballard says . “ Some weeks you might need to flex more for the firm and clients and some weeks you might take a little more of the flexibility to focus on your life outside of work .” •
