All the Comforts of Home ... and More .

John Willis remembers the moments with great fondness . From the day his mother , Alice Ann Leeber , first visited Edgewood Summit — an attractive , caring and locally owned not-for-profit senior living community — to the first days of making the community her permanent residence , they knew it was going to be a wonderful place to call home .
“ From the very beginning , we had many positive feelings about this community ,” said Willis . “ All the personnel and residents made her feel so welcome , and she quickly became involved in numerous activities .”
Leeber , a resident since 2016 , has made many wonderful friends and looks forward to the frequent birthday parties , communal dining interactions , and the on-site religious services and Bible study groups . But one of her favorite activities is participating in the exercise classes throughout the week .
“ My mother has always had an active , fun and loving personality ,” stated Willis . “ She has benefited greatly from the social and wellness programs . I have seen her life
blossom . And with all the activities they have , the community has all the comforts of home and so much more .”
While Leeber feels blessed with good health , one important factor in the decision was access to additional levels of care if she ever needed it . Edgewood Summit is the only not-for-profit retirement community in Charleston and offers the full continuum of care for area seniors .
“ As a physician , I have found the nursing staff to be highly competent and caring ,” added Willis . “ They have also done an exemplary job facing the recent challenges of COVID-19 . Everyone at the community understands the importance of vaccinations , and 100 % of residents have received the vaccine .”
“ It is so comforting to know my mother is happy , safe , and has been thriving in her life these past six years . Edgewood Summit is home to us .”
