Healing West Virginia According to the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, the health care and social assistance industry employs the largest percentage of the state’s workforce at 12.5 percent. West Virginia’s health care industry is blessed to have major hubs like Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown; a variety of sophisticated health care systems like Mon Health and Thomas Health; a pipeline of talent from the state’s colleges and universities like the West Virginia University School of Nursing; and a wealth of community partners. Every day, West Virginia’s award-winning higher education institutions, health care organizations and hospitals—such as Logan Regional Medical Center and Pocahontas Memorial Hospital—are demonstrating innovation, creativity and skill with elite leadership, promising research, high- quality programs and specialized care. To celebrate these successes, West Virginia Executive magazine created Healing West Virginia, a special showcase highlighting the innovations that characterize the Mountain State’s health care industry.  WWW.WVEXECUTIVE.COM WINTER 2019 59
