Welcome to Mercer County
is Waiting for You!
There is something for everyone in Mercer County. For the
outdoor enthusiast, this diverse location is home to a variety
of hunting, fishing, biking, hiking and skiing amenities, but
nothing beats ATV riding on the iconic Hatfield McCoy Trail
System. With more than 600 miles of off-road trails through-
out Southern West Virginia, the Hatfield McCoy trails wind
throughout the mountains, and it all starts at Mercer Coun-
ty’s Pocahontas Trail. After an adrenaline-pumping ATV ad-
venture, head to one of the county’s three state parks—Camp
Creek, Pinnacle Rock or Pipestem—for a family-friendly hike
or picnic lunch.
For those who prefer their fun indoors, Mercer County is
home to some of the best shopping, dining and historical sites
in West Virginia—and it even hosts the paranormal. Check out
the Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mine & Museum or take a his-
torical look at West Virginia at the Railroad Museum, Vietnam
Memorial and Mercer County War Museum in Princeton. Shop
for Appalachian antiques at the county’s variety of artisan gal-
leries, gift shops and specialty stores like Four Seasons Antiques
or Blue Moon Gifts, and wet your whistle at Sister’s Coffee
House or the Bram-
well Soda Fountain
and Corner Shop.

tivity. Built on the
remains of a Native
American burial ground, the park has a dark past. Now a
Mercer County landmark, it has attracted ghost hunters and
paranormal experts from all over the world. Schedule a pri-
vate tour or plan your trip around the park’s main event, the
Dark Carnival, held every October.
Whether you’re looking for hotels and restaurants in Princ-
eton, coal mining history in Bluefield or elaborate home tours
in Bramwell, Mercer County is a great place to visit, stay, shop
and play. Mercer County is waiting for you!
