TravelMD Opens New Location in South Charleston TravelMD is pleased to announce the addition of its newest location in South Charleston. This is the company’s second location in West Virginia. “With so many unmet needs in our community, we felt having a strong presence in Charleston would allow us to better serve our patients in meeting those needs as well as increasing access for the allied professionals we work so closely with,” says Dr. Cynthia Pinson, president and CEO of TravelMD. TravelMD providers have an extensive home-based patient practice spanning several counties throughout southern Ohio, Kentucky and large, rural areas of Charleston and Huntington, WV. They conduct routine visits in patients’ homes and can assist in transitioning to a higher level of care when necessary. “Our goal is to deliver competent and compassionate state-of-the-art care and improve the overall quality of life for patients,” says Pinson. “Our highest priority is for each patient to feel listened to and wellcared for—a priority that is evident by the happiness and satisfaction of our patients.” The mobile medical practice, which specializes in personal house calls from board-certified doctors and licensed nurse practitioners, was founded by Pinson in 2005. Care providers are specially trained health care professionals who assess, coordinate and monitor all aspects of treatment and progress. Charleston Area Medical Center Joins National Hospital Alliance to Bring Comprehensive Cardiac Care to Women Cathy Lynch, Janet Lutz and Jill Allen are three women united by an all-toocommon problem: heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, an estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease. It is the number one cause of death among women, more deadly than all forms of cancer combined, and one in four women will die due to heart disease each year. Contributing to the high mortality rate could be a lack of awareness about the signs and symptoms of heart disease in women. In an effort to raise awareness and provide education about this serious health issue in the region, Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) has joined the WomenHeart National Hospital Alliance, a network for hospitals across the country that work together to advance women’s heart health in communities. WomenHeart is a national patient education campaign whose mission is to provide women with information, education and patient support services to properly identify the signs and symptoms of heart disease and help them through their recovery with educational and emotional support. Last fall, CAMC nominated Lynch, Lutz and Allen to serve as its WomenHeart Champions. As part of their training, the champions attended the WomenHeart Science and Leadership Symposium at th e Mayo Clinic. “At the symposium, we learned how to use our own experiences to help other women,” says Lutz. “We had workshops that trained us to teach practical skills for living with heart disease and how to live a heart-healthy life. Unlike cancer and some other diseases, this is something you can control. I’m proud to be able to help women in Charleston take charge of their heart health.”  For all your plumbing needs. And more.
