Dash for Diabetes Marks 10th Anniversary
Hundreds came together on Saturday, June 13, as the City of Ravenswood and Coplin Health Systems( CHS) hosted the 10th Annual Dash for Diabetes 5K Walk / Run. This decade-long tradition started with a goal to raise awareness of the disease, promote prevention and support local diabetes education efforts.

“ Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Dash for Diabetes is a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together around a common goal,” says Mary Treadway, diabetic educator with CHS.“ Although I have only had the opportunity to be involved in recent years, I’ ve been inspired by the commitment and support that this event continues to generate.”
“ Events like the Dash for Diabetes reflect the power of communities coming together to support better health,” says Dr. Darrin Nichols, chief medical officer for CHS.“ Diabetes remains one of the most significant chronic health challenges facing our region, and increasing awareness is an important step toward prevention and early intervention.”
