When Rachel Coffman , president and founder of Coffman Collaborative , developed her brand identity , she aimed to be the voice for the industrial sector . Since childhood , she has been captivated by the technical nature and complexity of the manufacturing industry .
“ My grandfather worked at Union Carbide , and I was always excited to pass the Institute facility ,” she says . “ As a child , I was curious about what happened beyond the fence line . I ’ ve taken that same curiosity to create a custom model to communicate these technical processes to external audiences .”
Coffman Collaborative is an awardwinning strategic public relations firm focusing on governmental affairs , brand development , reputation management , community relations , media relations and crisis communications . With over 20 clients , 10 being manufacturers , Coffman Collaborative executes communication strategies in the Appalachian region and across the United States .
“ Because the bulk of what we do is governmental affairs and managing

public policy , many do not know the other services we provide in the communications area ,” Coffman says . “ When I created this company , the goal was to be an expert in external communication .”
The firm understands and executes the scientific approach to public relations . Coffman is a member of the Institute of Public Relations Elevate Cohort , which encourages the use of research in public relations .
“ We encourage our clients to value the research process ,” she says . “ You can ’ t create a communications plan without understanding how the targeted audience will receive the message . The research is the catalyst to a custom strategy .”
Since its inception , Coffman Collaborative has helped execute several notable projects . In 2023 , the firm worked with Nucor Steel West Virginia on event management for the company ’ s fall groundbreaking . The company has been awarded the Best in West Virginia Gold Campaign Award from the Public Relations Society of America West Virginia Chapter in 2023 for its community relations campaign execution for Belle Chemical Company and Carver Career Center ’ s simulated workplace project .
The company has grown in service area and in size . Cailee Krieger joined the team as an account executive in spring 2024 after graduating from West Virginia University and interning with Coffman .
“ During her internship , Cailee showed many qualities that make her a perfect fit for our team long-term ,” Coffman says . “ She has the ability to learn and pick up on what our clients do and is providing innovative ideas on how to meet those goals .”
Coffman Collaborative , in its three short years , has solidified itself as the voice of manufacturers in the state . •
