Collaboration Driving Student
Success in West Virginia
With a $ 1 million + collaboration that began with a seed grant from the Ascendium Education Group — one of the most active higher education philanthropies in the nation — and further investments from Philanthropy West Virginia ’ s
member foundations and businesses , the Mountain State is ramping up efforts to support the success of its postsecondary education students .
In line with West Virginia ’ s Climb , an initiative that seeks to arm 60 % of the state ’ s workforce with a postsecondary credential by 2030 , the Higher Education Policy Commission and Community & Technical College System are implementing programs with this collaborative support to help rural students , first-generation students and students from low-income backgrounds persist and succeed in college .
