Letter from the
West Virginia Executive ( WVE ) magazine might fall into the traditional media category , but we like to handle topics a bit differently than many other media outlets . We enjoy shining a positive light on the Mountain State . While we also discuss the challenges the state faces , we prefer to highlight the potential solutions to those challenges alongside that content . We believe West Virginia is home to a host of opportunities for people of all ages , and it is our goal to let our readers know about as many of those as possible .
This summer issue is all about opportunities . You ’ ll notice the front cover looks a bit different than our typical issue . We wanted to take the time to draw your attention to an opportunity on which West Virginia must capitalize .
This issue takes a deep dive into the world of nonprofits and philanthropic giving . The $ 30 billion opportunity that is highlighted on the cover is just one piece of a very important industry . This is the first time the staff at WVE has looked at philanthropy in the state as an industry , and we are excited to show West Virginia ’ s business community what we learned and just how important this industry is .

Without their good stewardship and vision for meeting the needs of their communities , there would be a major void in vital sectors , including health care , education , economic development and meeting basic needs .
