Lives Change.
Since it was founded nearly 70
years ago, Goodwill Industries of
Kanawha Valley, Inc. (GIKV) has
worked to promote a core mission
of dignity and civic engagement
through employment by actively
expanding opportunities and capa-
bilities for full integration and par-
ticipation of people with disabilities
and disadvantages into the commu-
nity through a variety of training
programs and employment options.
With an inclusive service territory of
20 West Virginia counties, GIKV’s
2018 revenue generated from dona-
tions, purchases and business service
contracts allowed mission investment
for 1,865 people with barriers seek-
ing entry into the workforce.
GIKV is expanding services in
both its northern and southern
footprints with new construction
in the works for South Parkersburg
in Wood County and an additional
location in the Beckley area.
The South Parkersburg facility is
being designed by ZMM Architects
& Engineers and modeled after the
original Goodwill Prosperity Center
(GPC) located on Charleston’s
historic West Side. It will feature
dedicated space for employment,
training and education services
as well as donation and retail
components. Community members
are encouraged to visit the new
locations to access supports and
services that will enable them to
identify, achieve and maintain
employment within their local area.
The GPC in Charleston recently
completed a second phase of reno-
vations that included a full-service
conference center. The GPC houses
GoodHOST, a self-sustaining train-
ing model that provides credentialed
hospitality training and employment
options for people seeking career
opportunities in West Virginia’s
booming hospitality and tourism
industries. Whether planning a board
meeting, off-site executive huddle or
training seminar, the Goodwill Con-
ference Center is a great option with
amenities including top-notch tech-
nology, light catering and multiple
set-up configuration capabilities as
well as incremental and full-day
flexible rates. With a GCC rental,
your space needs will be met with
genuine customer service and the skill
of tomorrow’s hospitality leaders.
