After Yeager Airport’s overrun
area was lost to a landslide in 2015,
ORDERS Construction Company
was selected to oversee the instal-
lation of a new retaining wall and
EMAS safety system. An innova-
tive two-part design, the walls are
made up of traditional soldier pile
and concrete lagging with rock an-
chors. The lower wall is backfilled
with select graded soil and crushed
stone while the upper wall utiliz-
es high-density geofoam blocks.
The crew overcame many challeng-
es during construction, including
near vertical topography and one
of the wettest construction seasons
in recent history.

area at Yeager is a big win for our

of designers, engineers and vendors
on a project that, if needed, will save
lives. Taking on a project of this mag-
nitude is challenging, but building
structures that improve safety at an
airport our friends and families use
