generate. That amount will be deducted from the building’s
electric bill. Groff estimates over 20 years the panels will save
more than $120,000. If energy prices go up, the savings will
be more.
Glenville State College Makes
Infrastructure Investments
Throughout the past year, Glenville State College (GSC)
has not only focused on lowering the cost of college for the
students and families of West Virginia but also on a variety
of capital improvement projects, including the renovation and
upgrade of various facilities on campus.
Some of the most substantial improvements that have been
made so far include renovating the Conrad Motel, a col-
lege-owned space in downtown Glenville, into an 85-student
residential living space known as the Riverfront Residence; de-
signing and completing an exercise science lab in the physical
education building; creating the Bluegrass Music Education
Center in downtown Glenville; and repurposing the third floor
of the Robert F. Kidd Library into an academic success center
that will house many academic support services for students,
including advising, tutoring and veterans’ services. Other im-
pactful projects have included repairing the restrooms and
the concession stand roof at Morris Stadium, replacing the
campus electrical core switch, refurbishing athletic courts and
replacing the pool filtration. Additionally, the technology in
all classrooms and computer labs has been updated, and most
faculty computers were upgraded to assure that GSC has the
latest technology and tools for success.
Citizens Bank of West Virginia Holds
Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Office
Citizens Bank of West Virginia held a groundbreaking
ceremony in July at the site of the bank’s soon-to-be newest
full-service facility in Buckhannon.
“This expansion project represents our decision to make
a significant and permanent investment in this community,”
says Citizens Bank President and CEO Nathaniel Bonnell.
“It speaks volumes about our future together—our intention
to serve this community and our role in the local economy.”
The new design-build project is expected to be complete in
late fall and will include a 4,700-square-foot building with
additional office space available for rent. There will be more
than 40 off-street parking spaces, a three-lane drive-thru and
an on-site ATM.
