SILLING ARCHITECTS Downtown Reimagined The Kanawha County Library The team at Silling Architects is nearing completion on the design of the Kanawha County Public Library’s main library renovation and 20,000-square-foot addition, the transformation of one of Charleston’s most iconic buildings. The update will provide the library with ex- panded programming and meeting space supportive of its mission to reclaim the library’s identity as the living room of the community. The capital campaign led by The Library Foundation of Kanawha County will allow more than 80 percent of the project budget to be covered by private donations, and the library board is exploring innovative new tax credit opportunities unique to public projects. The li- brary is excited to mark its new future in the epicenter of Charleston’s revitalization and expects to see con- struction commence in the spring of 2019. 405 Capitol Street, Upper Atrium, Charleston, WV 25301 (304) 346-0565 | silling.com | [email protected] ALPHA ASSOCIATES, INCORPORATED Creating Community The Grant County Bank Renovation Alpha Associates provided architectural, civil and structural engineering for the 18,900-square-foot ad- dition and renovation of the Grant County Bank in Pe- tersburg, WV, a project highlighting the importance of community banks to local communities and economies. Alpha’s design team met the bank’s goal of recreating the architectural feel of the original 1970s vintage building by incorporating similar columns and updated it with a new lobby, drive-thru and loan officer areas, providing efficiency and convenience for bank employees and cus- tomers and a bank with all of the modern conveniences for the city. A ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the bank were held to showcase the newly renovated facility. 209 Prairie Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26501 (304) 296-8216 | www.thinkalphafirst.com | [email protected] WWW.WVEXECUTIVE.COM SUMMER 2018 71
