The Health Plan ALEX PANAS Planning on Success in the Mountain State THE HEALTH PLAN It’s shaping up to be a momentous year for The Health Plan (THP), a not-for-profit community health organization that relocated its cor- porate headquarters from Ohio to Wheeling, WV, in January. The move grew out of an effort to get back to the company’s roots as a West Virginia corpora- tion and be a part of the revitalization of downtown Wheeling. Relocating approximately 400 staff members to Wheeling has had a positive impact on the local economy. In addition to its Wheeling staff, THP employs an additional 91 employ- ees in its Charleston and Morgantown offices. This is just the beginning of a strategic plan to put the company on the fast track for a series of big changes by 2020. Having nearly 400 newcomers in downtown Wheeling is already having a positive impact on business in the Friendly City. Many local restaurants have noticed an uptick in busi- ness during the lunch rush and have expanded
