The company, which manufactures pool, deck, concrete, floor and wall coating materials, was headquartered in California and leased a small manufacturing facility in Winfield, WV. As their customer base in the eastern United States grew, shipping products from California was becoming less cost efficient. It was clear the company needed to increase manufacturing capacity on the East Coast to meet growing customer demand. Initially, the company was strongly considering large southern cities, particularly Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, GA. “When we started discussing possibly moving the operations, I called the Putnam County Development Authority (PCDA) and set the wheels in motion to help us persuade the owners to keep the East Coast operations in West Virginia,” says John Dill, vice president at Multicoat. “As company executives began navigating the location decision process, they evaluated a wide range of data related to logistics, the overall cost of doing business, work force quality and availability, quality of life and community amenities.” The PCDA stands ready to support businesses and industries seeking the perfect site to relocate, invest and expand. The goal is to give businesses a convenient, one-stop resource for information. To accomplish this goal, the PCDA works closely with the West Virginia Development Office, Putnam County Commission and many other regional and state organizations. With an abundance of information and knowledge, the PCDA leads development in Putnam County. All assistance is confidential and provided free of charge.
