The Three Rivers Clinic currently offers primary care and general medicine practice, urgent care for non-lifethreatening conditions and specialized wound care, giving residents the option to seek medical help without having to go to the emergency room or travel outside of the community.
The clinic also works to address the opioid epidemic by offering support to those recovering from substance use disorder( SUD), including Suboxone and counseling services. Because of its integrated model, patients can receive medical attention, refills and— through a partnership with Compass Counseling, LLC, a therapy center in Beckley— mental health services all in one place.
“ This ensures that the physical and mental aspects of recovery and health are addressed together, which is vital for patients struggling with the disease of addiction,” Bailey says.
The Three Rivers Clinic is not only vital to the community because of its medical services, but it has also left a lasting impact on the local economy.
The clinic currently employs five full-time staff members and sees approximately 30 patients a day. One hundred of these patients are currently recovering from SUD. Bailey says the clinic has a target market of 2,200 potential Hinton residents, which will promote health care spending in the local community rather than in outside urban areas.
In the future, the Three Rivers Clinic hopes to enhance its impact with help from the Center for Rural Health Development and Wyoming County
EDA. There are already plans underway for the clinic to add telehealth and incommunity initiatives to its services.
“ By expanding into outpatient behavioral health services, including individual therapy and peer recovery support, Three Rivers Clinic is not just treating illness— it is fostering a healthier, more resilient workforce for West Virginia,” Bailey says.“ Through strategic state investment and a commitment to clinical excellence, the clinic stands as a model for how rural communities can reclaim their health and their economic future.”
As Three Rivers Clinic continues to grow, Bailey and Sangodeyi continue hitting milestones and moving closer toward their goal of giving all Hinton residents the quality of life they deserve by bridging the gap of rural health care.
