West Virginia Executive hosted its Celebrate the Eastern Panhandle Reception at the Bavarian Inn Resort & Brewing Company on February 10, 2026, in Shepherdstown. The reception brought together a dynamic group of business leaders and community members.
“ The diversity of the businesses and organizations in attendance made for an interesting networking event,” says Annette Gavin Bates, CEO of Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau.“ My role is promoting the county and state as a place you must see, and this beautiful state and the people who surround me make it easy.”
David Asam, vice president of the Bavarian Inn, says the best part of the reception was the opportunity to connect with so many different people.
“ It was lovely to mingle with other professionals from the area and introduce or re-introduce the Bavarian Inn to
many who haven’ t been here for quite some time,” he says.“ Networking and sharing information are essential for all businesses to grow. We want to see each other succeed and work well together for common goals. The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is naturally beautiful with so many places to visit and things to do. The opportunities are boundless.”
Mark Jordan, executive director of Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention & Visitors Bureau, highlights the broader impact of events like this.
“ Events like this reception are important because they encourage the exchange of ideas and lead to positive outcomes,” he says.“ A single conversation can ignite new collaborations and initiatives, underscoring the need to invest in and protect this region. Living and working in the Eastern Panhandle means being part of a region that is growing, evolving and full of opportunities, while still embracing its West Virginia values.” •
