BORN AND RAISED IN BRIDGEPORT, Curtis Fleming has always been driven by his love for the Mountain State. As CEO and host of“ Fly Rod Chronicles with Curtis Fleming,” he aims to feature the stories, culture and people that lie within West Virginia.
Fleming was raised by devoted parents who taught him the importance of hard work and discipline. His father, a coal miner and U. S. Marine, maintained a strict household while also inspiring Fleming’ s love for the outdoors.
“ Some of my most cherished memories are of just the two of us, whether we were fishing in a West Virginia trout stream or hunting whitetail deer and turkey,” he says.
Fleming’ s mother spent her time raising him and his two brothers, working hard to ensure they had everything they needed.
A torn Achilles tendon in his senior year of high school ended Fleming’ s dream of playing college basketball, leading him to find comfort in the outdoors while uncertain about his future.
In 1990, Fleming earned a bachelor’ s degree in industrial psychology and marketing from Fairmont State University. His first
