Prior to joining FBT , Welty served as West Virginia market president of Fifth Third Bank , where he coordinated business development and leadership for its retail , commercial and health care and wealth management divisions . During his tenure at Fifth Third , Welty participated on an industry team involved in a large health care merger , sourced a $ 50 million loan relationship for a health care client and cultivated significant personal investment relationships , including a $ 55 million investment .
Appointed by then-Governor Joe Manchin , Welty served from 2010 to 2021 on the board of directors for the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust , a public venture capital fund created by the West Virginia Legislature to stimulate entrepreneurial growth and create jobs . As vice chairman , he was a significant contributor to creating the administrative framework for the West Virginia Capital Access Program , which helps credit-worthy companies with non-traditional profiles secure seed capital and debt financing . Welty also serves on the board of directors of the West Virginia Roundtable .

Former WVSOM Dean Receives National Lifetime Achievement Award
Two and a half years after retiring as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine ( WVSOM ), Craig Boisvert , D . O ., was recognized for a long career of service by a professional medical association representing more than 25,000 osteopathic family physicians , residents and students in the U . S . The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians ( ACOFP ) presented Boisvert with its Lifetime Achievement Award on April 4 at the organization ’ s annual convention in New Orleans , LA .
“ I ’ m honored to accept this award ,” he says . “ I have known many of the individuals who have received it in the past and it ’ s an impressive group , so I ’ m grateful to be included .”
Boisvert joined WVSOM in 1988 as an associate professor of family medicine and within a few years was chair of the section of family practice and president-elect of ACOFP ’ s West Virginia society .
Boisvert stayed with WVSOM for three and a half decades , becoming the school ’ s associate dean for predoctoral clinical education in 2013 and vice president for academic affairs and dean in 2014 , a post he held until his 2021 retirement . •
