West Virginia ’ s Greenbrier County looks very different now than it did just a few years ago in 2016 . After eight to 10 inches of rain fell over a period of 12 hours , a flash flood debilitated communities and became one of the deadliest floods in West Virginia ’ s history . Now , six years later , Greenbrier County ’ s resurgence is evident . While vibrant and bustling streets are a sign of life coming back into the county , both new and old businesses are excited to share their success stories with the entirety of West Virginia . Celebrating one another ’ s victories is key to joining together as a state , and these accomplishments would not have been possible without community collaboration .
Greenbrier County has achieved greatness , and its businesses have earned their chance to highlight how they are changing the narrative and moving past tragedy to a bright future . These individual organizations have committed to more than just fueling the economy ; they have diligently worked toward supporting and building up their neighbors . They innately understand the interconnectedness of business and community and that both need the other to thrive .
A variety of events and festivals bring the county together and showcase this interconnectedness and sense of camaraderie , like the annual Chocolate Festival , State Fair of West Virginia , Taste of Our Towns Festival and West Virginia Renaissance Festival .
West Virginia Executive strives to highlight individual counties to inspire others to work toward achieving their respective goals . Greenbrier County serves as an example of implementing a strategic plan to cultivate growth . From the lively city of Lewisburg to the growing and developing town of Ronceverte , Greenbrier County is a catalyst for hope . •
