In the Fall 2021 issue of West Virginia Executive ( WVE ), a special section and feature story celebrated growth and development in vibrant Cabell County . Not only is the region rapidly growing , but it has seen great successes in the areas of education , entertainment and economy .
On February 1 , 2022 , a reception was held at 21 at the Frederick , a restaurant and bar , to celebrate Cabell County and its accomplishments . This event was a space for business professionals and leaders to join in recognition of the area and create a constructive environment for sharing ideas and networking .
“ Too often businesses and organizations work in silos and duplicate efforts . In order to provide West Virginia with the very best , we need to utilize and partner with each other to go deeper with the support instead of wider ,” says Brandie Turner , early and elementary learning specialist at the Marshall University June Harless Center .
WVE ’ s celebratory receptions aim to shine a positive light on West Virginia and the dedicated people and organizations who have come together to create affirmative change . The Celebrate Cabell County reception was no exception .
“ We need to have an opportunity to talk with colleagues about their businesses and the successes and challenges they have experienced . We ’ re all the beneficiary of other entrepreneurs ’ experiences ,” says Marc Williams , managing partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough .
Giving West Virginians a space to celebrate one another and the commitment they have toward moving the state forward allows them to recognize the beauty of working in the Mountain State .
“ The best part of working in West Virginia is the community of people who are my friends , colleagues and clients . Being part of a community of people who are unselfishly
working to make life better for others is the best part of this state ,” says Williams .
West Virginia ’ s businesses and establishments work to build not only themselves up but also their communities and the people living in them . The reception helped to fuel those connections and create a sense of kinship among one another .
“ There ’ s much to celebrate in the Mountain State ,” says Mike Friel , director of communication at the Robert C . Byrd Institute . “ These receptions focus attention on the successes and unique quality of our individual communities while affording the people who live and work there the opportunity to network , share ideas and collaborate on ways to keep the momentum going . As a lifelong West Virginian , I take great pride in the beauty of our state and the resiliency and friendliness of people on every hill and in every hollow . No matter where I travel across the U . S . or beyond , my heart is always in West Virginia .” •
