Making Access to Care Easier

Boone Memorial Hospital ’ s newest project , the Medical Pavilion , has been under consideration for nearly two years . The project will relocate several of the hospital ’ s providers into a central location . The former Magic Mart building site , located in Danville , off U . S . Route 119 , is approximately 45,000 square feet of space and will allow for additional patient care exam rooms to accommodate expanding primary and specialty care demand . The new space will also allow for the expansion of current clinic services and additional providers as new services are being considered .
The new facility will include Boone Memorial ’ s primary care providers and many of its current specialty providers . This project will feature a fully enclosed drive-through clinic for a variety of simple , quick and easy services such as flu shots , flu and strep swabs , vaccinations and allergy injections , among others . In addition , a second lane will be available for those patients who are elderly or not extremely mobile .
The facility will also house a pharmacy with drive through access , more than 30 patient exam rooms for primary care and specialty providers , an x-ray room for clinic patients , several blood draw stations and a telemedicine hub for patients requiring specialty care consults , which Boone does not provide at its current facility .
In addition , Boone ’ s Black Lung Center located on campus will be relocated to the Medical Pavilion . This , too , will provide more convenient access to services with its location at the front entrance of the building . Several administrative functions , such as marketing and public relations , employee education and training , will also be relocated to the pavilion . The new Medical Pavilion is expected to be home to more than 90 employees and providers with 15 new positions being added .
David Gresham , Chief Development Officer at Boone Memorial , says he is most excited about the access the new medical center will provide .
“ It is centrally located for residents from Boone , Lincoln , Kanawha and Logan counties and will provide a large population with access to primary and specialty care not previously available in this area ,” he says . “ From our innovative drive through-clinic with access to exam rooms when needed to the telemedicine hub for specialty care to the extended hours walk-in clinic and inside or drivethrough pharmacy access , this facility will provide access to patients not previously available before in our area .”
Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Mark Linville says this project will allow the community easier access to specialized care .
“ We will provide a single source location of specialists to compliment our primary care physicians ,” Linville says . “ If need be , the patient can get basic x-rays and lab work completed without leaving the premises . This gives Boone Memorial an opportunity to broaden its health care footprint to provide closer access to communities within our service areas .”
