ROCKWOOL is the world ’ s leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation . We offer a full range of high-performing and sustainable insulation products for the construction industry . Since our founding in 1937 , we have grown to operate 47 manufacturing facilities in 22 countries . Our newest facility in Jefferson County will be our second in the U . S ., expanding our production capacity to meet the growing demand for our industry-leading insulation products . Commercial production is scheduled to begin in June .
We are committed to West Virginia for the long term , bringing job stability and security to workers employed at our new Ranson facility . In Ranson , we have already hired 86 new team members and will employ at least 150 people locally with approximately 80 % of those positions in technician roles supporting the production line and 20 % in leadership roles . Baseline salaries for these jobs range from $ 35,000- $ 55,000 per year for technicians and an average of $ 85,000 per year for leadership and management positions .
In addition to the competitive base salary , all employees receive excellent benefits , including health , dental and vision coverage — of which the company pays up to 85 % of the premium — as well as disability and life insurance . Employees can also elect to receive coverage for their spouse and dependents . We are proud to offer a well-rounded benefits package , which includes 2-3 weeks of paid vacation and a 401K matched up to 6 % by ROCKWOOL . In total , the benefits package has a value of about $ 18,500 .
ROCKWOOL provides access to courses , apprenticeships and a range of in-house and online training programs and resources to support skills development and employee advancement . This allows entry-level staff , for example , to be strongly positioned for growth , and with excellent performance on the job , they may be eligible for promotions after just 1-2 years .
In addition to our more than $ 150 million direct investment in the Ranson facility , ROCKWOOL is proud to be driving
investment in infrastructure that will better serve the surrounding community and help to attract more businesses and development to the region in the coming years . The enhanced infrastructure includes new water and sewer lines , upgraded electrical service , telecommunications , an 8-mile natural gas pipeline extension designed to serve the Route 9 corridor and an access road that will service our facility as well as future development . The recently completed sewer line is already benefitting commercial customers in the nearby Burr Industrial Park , while recently installed fire hydrants , made possible by the completed water line , will aid local fire departments in safeguarding our residential and business neighbors .
As was announced last year , ROCKWOOL will be starting up the Ranson factory operations using natural gas instead of coal , significantly reducing the environmental impact of our operations . Converting the core melting technology from coal to natural gas is the result of years of technological research and development into the highly advanced , fuel-flexible melting technology
