What began as a small, single-office bank in Parkersburg has since become the largest publicly traded company headquartered in West Virginia. United Bank first opened its doors in Parkersburg on March 17, 1839, prior to West Virginia becoming a state. That special day has led to a long-standing bank tradition of jointly celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and its anniversary each year. Parkersburg residents visit the bank to receive a small pot of shamrocks as a thank you for their continued support. United’s journey is a true American dream success story and an example of what can happen when service, dedication and trustworthiness pass faithfully from generation to generation. What sets United apart in the marketplace is its reputation for building lasting relationships with its customers and providing them with unparalleled service. This is reinforced through United’s mission to provide excellence in service to the shareholders, employees, customers and communities it serves. “Facts and figures aside, our competitive advantage is our people who carry out our core values of integrity, hard work, teamwork and caring every single day,” says Richard Adams, chairman and CEO of United. United invests more than financial resources into the communities it serves. United employees and directors take an active role in their communities, serving on boards and committees, sponsoring local events and helping make a difference in thousands of lives each day. One standout example is the Kids Golf Classic, which benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg. For 21 consecutive years, members of the local business and golf community have come together to support the more than 600 youth served annually by the organization. Since its inception, the tournament, which is entirely funded by United Bank, has helped raise more than $2.6 million. It is this commitment to local communities and the dedication of the employees that have made United West Virginia’s Bank. Today, United boasts a network of 142 offices across West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC, and employs more than 2,400 experienced banking and financial professionals. Standing united, stronger than ever and positioned for the future, the banking tradition and legacy of United Bank will endure for many years to come. United will continue to embrace new challenges and recognize new opportunities because, at United, the challenge to be the best never ends. 514 Market Street   I   Parkersburg, WV   I   (304) 424-8800 BankWithUnited.com   I   Member FDIC
