STATUS: Rover Pipeline Energy Transfer Partners’ Rover Pipeline will move Marcellus and Utica shale products to market hubs that reach Midwest, Gulf Coast, Canadian and U.S. Northeast markets. The pipeline is designed to receive natural gas at 12 lo- cations along its 710-mile route and will deliver to five different stations, includ- ing the Panhandle Eastern, ANR, Vector, Columbia Gas Transmission and Rockies Express pipelines. Rover will transport 3.25 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day and include four mainline compressor stations, six supply lateral compressor stations and various other ancillary facilities along its route. The project will make direct deliveries to Ohio, West Virgi nia, Michigan and Canada and also construct a pipeline segment from the Midwest Hub in Defiance County, Ohio, through Michigan to a connection with the Vector Pipeline, enabling deliveries to Ontario, Canada. Under Construction “Natural gas pipelines are a key com- ponent of America’s energy infrastructure and the safest and most environmentally safe way of transporting natural gas,” says Alexis Daniel, media representative for the Rover Pipeline. “Rover has been working with local, state and federal agencies for the permitting of the project for more than three years, and we are excited to be able to support this energy source that provides for cleaner air and energy independence.” A $4.2 billion pipeline, Rover will directly impact local communities and the national labor force by creating up to 10,000 construction jobs, with 2,200 of those being in the Mountain State, and spending millions of dollars on goods and services, materials and equipment. Up to 40 permanent jobs are expected to be created in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and property taxes are estimated to be $147 million during the first full year the pipeline is in service. The project received its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity from the FERC on February 2, 2017. Tree- clearing for the Rover began shortly after, and construction began on March 3. The pipeline is projected to be in service to the Defiance, Ohio, hub by July and to the Dawn hub in Ontario by November. Construction on the Rover Pipeline, which began on March 3, 2017.
