Two of Andrew Sealy’ s most notable qualities are his enthusiasm for storytelling and his commitment to people. The founder and president of Cardinal Creative, he has built a career on capturing and sharing meaningful stories.
Sealy’ s work with Cardinal Creative, a West Virginiabased marketing and communications company, involves helping higher education institutions connect with alumni, working with health care organizations to highlight resilience in tough times and helping nonprofits amplify their impact. Sealy credits both his parents and wife for his work ethic and dedication.
“ My parents were the first to encourage my curiosity and give me the freedom to explore what I was passionate about, and my wife has been by my side through it all,” he says.“ She has a way of grounding me while also giving me the push to take chances I might have secondguessed on my own.”
A native of Auburn, NY, Sealy was involved in almost every extracurricular activity growing up. A multi-sport athlete and performer in the arts, Sealy used the skills he learned in his youth to further his career as an adult. Like many children, Sealy wanted to do several things when he grew up, but it wasn’ t until he job-shadowed at a local radio station at age 14 that he knew what he wanted to do.
“ I still remember the excitement of sitting behind the microphone for the first time,” he says.“ That simple experience sparked a love of broadcasting that gave me confidence and eventually opened the door to my first announcing job with the Auburn Doubledays, our hometown minor league baseball team.”
This path led Sealy to Morgantown, where he says his mentors at West Virginia University have had a lasting impact on him.
“ From the beginning, supervisors and colleagues put their trust in me and gave me opportunities that stretched my abilities,” he says.“ They were quick to recommend me when new doors opened and honest enough to challenge me when I needed to grow.”
Sealy says his greatest achievement is founding Cardial Creative because it gives him the opportunity to tell the stories of all West Virginians.
“ Through Cardinal Creative, I have the privilege of helping organizations tell stories that matter— stories about donors who change lives, patients who inspire resilience, alumni who shape the future and communities who come together to make an impact,” he says.
Sealy’ s successes stretch far beyond his work with Cardinal Creative. Each year, the team at Cardinal Creative partners with a nonprofit to donate their services, whether that’ s storytelling, content creation or website development. These partnerships allow organizations with limited resources to share their mission more effectively, amplifying their work in ways that make a tangible difference.
“ This tradition has become a cornerstone for our team, reminding us that our skills can be used not only to build a business but also to strengthen the communities around us,” Sealy says.
Sealy serves on the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties Emerging Leaders Steering Committee, helping engage young professionals in philanthropy and leadership initiatives. He also volunteers at Sheldon Calvary Camp, supporting programs that give children and families meaningful camp experiences rooted in growth and connection. Sealy and his wife are also certified foster parents, helping provide a safe and stable home environment to the children who need it.
Sealy says he and his family plan to stay in West Virginia because this is where he has chosen to put down roots. Familial ties and endless adventure are all reasons he chooses to call the Mountain State home.
“ More than anything, we believe in investing our time and energy into West Virginia so it continues to thrive for the generations who will come after us.” •
