When Lindsey Lebo walks into her office at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, she never quite knows what the day will bring, but that’ s usually how she likes it. As director of marketing, Lebo oversees everything from advertising and entertainment to promotions and social media in one of the region’ s most dynamic industries. The fast pace keeps her energized, but it’ s her drive to grow, mentor others and give back to the community that truly defines her career.
Lebo grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, just north of Harrisburg, where her childhood was filled with bikes, swimming pools, Girl Scout trips and family adventures. From an early age, she envisioned having a career helping people. At first, she thought this would be in the medical field but quickly changed her mind when she realized her talents were better suited for business and marketing.
“ During my first year of college, a co-worker told me I’ d be great in management based on my personality,” she says.
That encouragement, along with her own determination, sent her down a new path into the casino industry, one she decided to follow all on her own.
“ My first professional job was working in player services at a casino in Pennsylvania,” she says.“ We signed up new guests for the rewards program and helped with promotions and giving out prizes. I knew almost immediately that I wanted to continue my career within the casino industry, specifically in marketing.”
The director of marketing at Lebo’ s first casino job saw her potential and pushed her to pursue different promotions.
“ His mentorship gave me the confidence to keep going and continue building my career,” she says.“ He believed in me, which made all the difference.”
Lebo worked full time while also obtaining her MBA, which she feels is one of her greatest achievements.
“ Earning my MBA while working full time is definitely my greatest achievement,” she says.“ Juggling work and school and maintaining some semblance of work-life balance was tough, but it was a goal I set for myself, and achieving it felt amazing.”
What sets her apart isn’ t just her ambition; it’ s her passion for community service.
At Hollywood Casino, she serves on the Charitable Contributions Committee, supporting efforts such as the Men Wear Pink campaign for the American Cancer Society; United Way; and West Virginia Breast Health Initiative.
She also helped launch the Hearts and Hands Committee, an internal initiative that raises money for team members facing hardship. Each year, she also organizes the Team Member Golf Tournament, which channels funds back into both the charity committee and Hearts and Hands.
Additionally, she serves on the Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau board, where she focuses on tourism for the county. She is actively involved with a local apiary, supporting efforts to protect the bee population and harvest honey.
Through United Way’ s Day of Caring, she has taken on projects ranging from weeding and painting fences to sprucing up sanctuaries for horses. She also advocates for a local service dog program where dogs are trained to become service animals for retired military and first responders.
Her dedication to both her career and her community is rooted in her belief in growth and perseverance.
“ The idea of never settling and always looking ahead to the next step in my career has really influenced my success,” she says.“ When I’ m in a role, I try to take on and learn as much as I can to get ready for the next step.”
Outside of work and community service, Lebo enjoys hiking, mountain biking, fishing, camping and spending time in the great outdoors of West Virginia.
“ West Virginia is a beautiful state, and there’ s so much to do that fits into my lifestyle,” she says. •
