The West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust Board of Directors Approves Promotions
The West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust Board of Directors unanimously approved promotions for Michele O ’ Connor and Bradley Sergent to senior investment manager and investment manager , respectively .
“ The recognition of both Michele ’ s and Brad ’ s significant contribution to the mission of the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust by the board of directors is well deserved ,” says Andrew Zulauf , executive director . “ Both continue to be a positive influence and have a meaningful impact in supporting entrepreneurs , small business owners , inventors , innovators and all of the other stakeholders in our state , region and across the nation . I am proud to have them as part of our team .”
O ’ Connor has more than 30 years of experience in the finance and banking industry . She has attained her Certified Financial Planner designation along with the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Manager and Development Finance Certified Professional designations . She is a board member and chair of Tech Connect West Virginia and serves as an advisory board member for the West Virginia Small Business Development Center and the West Virginia Women ’ s Business Center . O ’ Connor graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor ’ s degree in finance from the University of Maryland University College .
Sergent is a veteran with experience in financial services , economic development and the banking industry with a strong background in financial planning , investment sales and commercial loan underwriting and review . Sergent served 10 years in the West Virginia Air National Guard as an NCO in Vehicle Operations , which included a nine-month tour in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom . Sergent earned a bachelor ’ s degree in finance from Marshall University .
WVU Parkersburg Awarded $ 100,000 for New Metallica Scholars Initiative
WVU Parkersburg was selected from a competitive field of community colleges
across the country to receive $ 100,000 to transform the future of students in the community .
Funded by Metallica ’ s All Within My Hands and led by the American Association of Community Colleges ( AACC ), the Metallica Scholars Initiative was designed to directly support students while elevating the importance of career and technical education . Metallica continues to use its global platform to speak out on the dignity of professional trades and community colleges that prepare students .
“ Selection for the Metallica Scholars Initiative is further proof that WVU Parkersburg is among the top tier of higher education institutions , not just locally and in West Virginia but nationally as well ,” says WVU Parkersburg President Dr . Chris Gilmer . “ Only nine colleges were selected this year from an amazing field of applicants nationwide , and we thank this iconic brand , its foundation and our good friends at the AACC for their confidence in us .”
