TerraLeaf Dispensaries
Chris Visco of TerraLeaf Dispensaries builds her businesses by building the community first . Visco is working toward opening the first medical cannabis dispensary in Huntington , with plans to show up for the local community in a big way . Through education , action and participation , TerraLeaf Dispensaries will be more than just an economic driver and medical cannabis dispensary .
The 10,000-square-foot building will house a dispensary and the TerraLeaf Medical Marijuana Education Center on its first floor . The services offered by the education center are completely free and will give residents the opportunity to learn about the products , the benefits of medical marijuana and the medical card application process while also asking questions .
“ We will be doing a lot of educational events and community outreach type things by throwing various parties throughout the area and really focusing on responsible medical marijuana use and explaining what the medical cannabis program is ,” says Visco . “ All the while , we will be using local businesses , holding events in private restaurants , using small business caterers and putting as much money into the community as we can .”
Additionally , all employees of TerraLeaf Dispensaries will receive a generous benefits package with insurance , paid leave and a baseline $ 15-per-hour minimum wage to all employees .
“ A lot of people who come to work for me are younger , and I don ’ t want them to just come to work for me for a job ,” Visco says . “ I want them to come work for me for a career .”
Visco self-funded a dispensary license application in West Virginia after successfully merging her Pennsylvania-based medical marijuana company , TerraVida Holistic Centers , the largest woman-owned medical cannabis company in the state . Visco believes that medical marijuana can help mitigate the ongoing opioid crisis at the county and state level and plans to work with local doctors , government officials and existing rehabilitation centers to bring change to the area .
