With various training programs , including a USCCA concealed carry course , handgun rentals , and West Virginia ’ s largest indoor firearm range , this training facility is of the highest caliber .
The firearm industry has recently taken off , and with a spike in new firearm ownership occurring throughout the country in recent months — there were 1.5 million new handgun owners in February alone — DID ’ s employees offer expertise for those wanting to make their first defensive handgun purchases . Shoppers can compare different models before they buy and even rent firearms , with more than 70 popular defensive models to choose from in DID ’ s rental fleet . They can compare them side by side on the indoor range and actually shoot them before they make a purchase . “ When you have people who are in the market for their first defensive handgun , it ’ s good to be able to try out a number of the popular options ,” says Carl Lamb , a DID training instructor .
Additionally , to help meet the needs of this large influx of new firearm owners , the DID team offers basic safety and fundamentals training courses . Participants will learn everything about their handguns from the inside out , including how to disassemble and properly clean them .
“ We do everything to help people find the right firearms or defensive equipment they want to use to protect themselves or their families ,” says Jennifer Zook , Director of Business Operations at DID . “ I think that ’ s what makes us unique .”
For those who are a little more advanced , DID offers training classes for all skill sets and provides free classes to law enforcement and members of the military . There are also advanced classes conducted by highly trained military and law enforcement personnel . Every type of student can participate in a training course , from the new shooter to individuals interested in competitive matches . DID also has programs designed for realtors and churches .
