Celebrate

Putnam County

There truly is something for everyone to be found in Putnam County , WV . Between the food , shopping and entertainment and the economic development , growth and job opportunities , this ever-growing county offers the delight of small-town living while having everything one could want or need in the surrounding area .
To celebrate one of the Mountain State ’ s most unique and charming regions , West Virginia Executive ( WVE ) partnered with area leaders and members of Putnam County ’ s business community to showcase just how special it is in the combined Spring / Summer 2020 issue to create Celebrate Putnam County , a special advertising section .
On July 30 , 2020 , a networking reception was held at the beautifully remodeled Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane to bring together professionals and local residents . For many , this was one of the first social events they were able to attend since the coronavirus pandemic struck earlier this year , which made it that much more special .
“ It had been a while since I attended an event , and I really enjoyed it ,” says Dave Ferguson , principal of ZMM Architects & Engineers . “ Socializing with colleagues over food and drinks in a great atmosphere was very enjoyable .”
Perhaps what made the event most successful was catering by Putnam County ’ s own FireSide Grille , just one of the many locally owned restaurants to be found in the area . While masks and social distancing combined with community and networking made for a familiar yet out-of-the-ordinary reception for WVE , everyone made the most of the event while enjoying the food , beauty and people that Putnam County has to offer . While it was a celebration of the county ’ s exciting present , what ’ s to come in the county ’ s future only makes it more exciting .
“ It was so nice to safely visit with friends and business contacts and meet new folks at the Celebrate Putnam County event ,” says Kathy McKinley , director of community relations at Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley . “ West Virginia Executive magazine did a great job working to provide a safe , compliant social environment .”
Ashley Alford Glance , president of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce , spoke at the event and later offered thanks to WVE for the successful celebration .
“ We are very appreciative to West Virginia Executive for showcasing all that makes Putnam County the best place to live and work . On top of that , being able to come together to celebrate the section was a very special moment for our community ,” she says . •
