Welcome to our 39th Summer Program

West Suburban Summer School , a program of Intermediate District 287 ' s Gifted Education Services , serves gifted and talented students from member districts who are entering grades 2-12 . Students from other districts are welcome to register at a higher fee .
What makes WSSS different ?
• Instructors design classes in their area of expertise to provide highpotential students with unique experiences to challenge their abilities .
• Classes are focused on a theme that includes several disciplines such as math , science , writing , and art . Most classes are limited to sixteen students .
• Those who receive access to this brochure are either in their school district ’ s gifted and talented program or have been accepted through the nomination process .
• Teachers prepare feedback for students , which is sent to parents , but no grades are given .
• West Suburban Summer School does not give academic credit for courses , but course information will be provided to those who wish to request credit from their home schools .
• This program is self-supporting . It is not funded by independent school districts or gifted and talented programs .
Gifted Education Services Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from each member district and other agencies . They identify programs and services to enrich local district offerings .
