Hospice isn’t just about dying peacefully. It’s about living until you die. Sally nods adding, “We even have a fellow that sends us a photo every year of our Christmas display. We try to do something different each year. Last year, we had Santa fixing the ‘58 Chevy, and this year, we have the blow- up dino. One year we had the old fire truck with lights, another year a tractor. The community loves it and they all get excited at what we are going to do next. A lot of people around town asked this year if Santa was going to be working on his car again.” One of the Smiths’ New Year’s Resolutions is to work on the inside of the garage a little bit. “We are planning on cleaning this place up and showing off the inside which is beautiful,” Sally said. “There is an old-fashion wooden phone booth and an old- timey bar with bar stools.” John looks forward to getting the place cleaned up as well but warns about staying out too late doing it. “If you work past 2 o’clock at night Carl and Mr. Jones don’t like it,” he said. “There used to be an apartment up there. It’s not there no more because when we tore the roof off, we tore it out, too. And, you work past 2 o’clock at night, stuff happens. I see things, I hear things every now and then. I went in there and turned the television on. I heard some racket, I thought someone was breaking in, I grabbed my 38, looked out there and nothing, but then the next morning I found oil cans I had on the shelf tipped over on the other side of the building. It didn’t scare me though. I know old Claude was just wanting to see what was going on in his old place.” Bullington Construction, Inc.
