COMMUNITY GUIDE 2026

Libraries: a place to gather and learn

Libraries in the west Lake Minnetonka area offer far more than traditional book lending, providing access to a wide range of resources, technology and community programming. Through the Hennepin County Library system, residents can access millions of materials in print and digital formats, along with educational programs and services for all ages.
In addition to books, patrons can access e-books, audiobooks, movies and music online, as well as research tools and community resources. Local branches also host storytimes, classes and seasonal programming that bring residents together and support lifelong learning.

The Westonka Library is currently closed while a new facility is under construction on the existing site. The new library is designed to better serve community needs with updated spaces, including an early learning area for families, meeting rooms for students and groups of all ages, and expanded access to technology. The facility is also planned as a net-zero energy building, designed to produce as much— or more— energy than it consumes.
Residents may continue to access services through other Hennepin County Library locations or online.
